Welcome to the Lingojam translator of Wampachoozee, NovaNick's prestige language.
Pronunciation Rules:
Wampachoozee is very similar to English in terms of pronunciation rules, but there are a few differences.
First, the letter "g" always makes a hard g sound, not a j sound. Only the letter "j" makes that sound. Second, two o's in a row (oo) always makes a deep u sound as in "moo," not the sound in "door." Third, two e's in a row (ee) always makes the same sound in "deer." Fourth, the letter "s" always makes a hard s sound like in "sound,", not the z sound. Only the letter z makes the z sound. Fifth, the letter s in the middle of a word is supposed to be a letter z, and will be fixed soon. The letter s is only used for pluralization. Sixth, the letter r is always rolled, like in the Spanish word "perro." Seventh, doubled consonants don't really matter. Eighth, the letter combo "ch" always makes a ch sound, not a k sound.
Where is it spoken?
It is spoken in the fictional country of Ghaondia as a lingua franca in the country's lower prefecture of Zeilfei (or Zalfoowee in Wampachoozee / Zelfoy in English). The capital of Zeilfei is Docherok.
History:
In lore, Wampachoozee is the native language of the "ቫምፓጩ" or "Vamipach'u" people, however they have now adopted the name Wampachoozee for their people and their language. Through the development of their language, they conquered the lands that would give rise to the Gaiin people, who are now in Ghaondia and some regions of North Dexenia and Dextreme. The Gaiin are related to the Wampachoozee and also the Dexens, similar to a kind of Mestizo between the two groups. They spoke a dialect of Wampachoozee called "ቃኤዱጋጌ" or "Kaeendugagee" which would eventually develop into "Gaiindugagii" or the Ghaondian language (which was heavily influenced by Dexenic). Wampachoozee used to have a lot more "w" sounds and a "v" sound and their native alphabet (which in the real world is called Ge'ez script and is used in Amharic) but eventually went through a sound change and changed their script to Latin which was brought from the rising Gaiin people.
