The Norþlandisċ, Northlandic, or Northlandish (Northlandic is more common for English speakers) language (German: nɔɐ̯tlɛndɪʃ and Danish: noɐ̯lansg ) is a West Germanic language spoken by about one million people, in Canada, Northern Germany (also in parts of Southern Jutland, Southern Sweden, Eastern Netherlands, and Southwestern Norway). Also, minor Norþlandisċ-speaking communities are found in Norway, Sweden, the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Argentina. Due to immigration and language shifts in urban areas, only 3–4% of the population of the US speak Norþlandisċ as their first language.
