Hello there! This is a simple online Instagram fonts generator that you can use to create text which you can copy and paste into your Instagram bio. There are loads of different text fonts available - just type some text into the first box, and all the fancy, stylish letters will be output into the second box (and you can scroll down through them all).
Some of the characters may appear as "tofu" - i.e. rectangular boxes, sometimes with question marks in them. This likely means that your device or browser doesn't yet support those particular characters. The number of special symbols and characters are expanding all the time, and so operating systems and browsers are always trying to keep up with Unicode's specifications.
What's Unicode? Well, it is the god of emojis and all other fancy symbols and characters (including the plain old ASCII text that you're reading right now). It's an international non-profit organisation that works to specify all the different textual characters that should exist, and how they should be encoded in binary (e.g. a=01100001, b=01100010, etc.). There's over 100,000 symbols specified in the standard, and so we can have a bunch of fun making pseudo fonts for Instagram bios, and other social media posts.
Why do I call them "pseudo fonts"? Because they're not "real" fonts - they're just sets of Unicode characters that look like the normal Latin alphabet (the letters you're reading right now). So, for example, the number "1" sort of looks like the letter "l", and so we could substitute one symbol for the other and we'd have the first character of our pseudo-alphabet. We could make substitutions for the other letters and eventually swap out all the letters and we'd have a "font" that can be copy and pasted. To copy and paste a real font, you'd need to actually share the font file with the person that you're sending the text to, but this generator allows you to copy and paste just the characters, and then others will be able to see their "fanciness" without needing any special fonts on their computer. That is, so long as their computer already supports most Unicode glyphs (most computers and devices do).
So Unicode is pretty neat it gave us a unified set of text encoding and decoding rules, it gave us emojis, and it gave us all these Instagram text fonts!
If you have any ideas for how I could improve this font styles generator, please submit them in the feedback form, or leave a comment below :)
