I'm trying to make some foreign language versions of my popular Fonts for Instagram generator, just to make it easier for people from all around the world to find and use it, so that's why I made this generator (konverter?).
I guess if you're still reading, then you can read English (I've read that over 50% of Germans can speak/read English), so I might as well explain how this thing works!
Okay, so in the early 1980s, a bunch of people got together from some big tech companies and created an organisation called Unicode. The purpose of this organisation was to specify how to convert binary code into textual characters. At the time, there were several competing "rule books" for doing this, and there was no general agreement. Unicode straightened things out by introducing it's "universal" code book. Over time, the Unicode specification grew larger and larger so that it could support lots of different languages and use-cases. For example, it was mathematicians that requested the Fraktur (or "Gothic") font: 𝖑𝖎𝖐𝖊 𝖙𝖍𝖎𝖘 because they needed it for their equations.
So over time there were many more characters added to the standard other than the simple Latin characters and Arabic numerals that are on your keyboard. And that's the cool part: We can use all of these fancy symbols to create interesting Instagram bios so that our account stands-out and looks unique. Thanks Unicode!
