Cyrillic is a writing system descended from the Greek Alphabet used for writing slavic languages and some others such as Mongolian. It's most commonly used for Russian. Because the Latin (english) alphabet and Cyrillic are both descended from Greek, some of their letters look similar. In some posters and media, Cyrillic letters are used to look like Latin letters so that a sentence is readable in English while still having the aesthetic of Russian.
