Updated March 2020! FAQ and notes below. Please avoid using contractions in your English text!
VULCAN TO ENGLISH
You can translate from Vulcan to English by copy-pasting the text into the Vulcan box. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to translate well if you type directly into the box; I suspect this has something to do with the prevalence of punctuation such as hyphens and apostrophes.
WHERE ARE THE VULCAN CHARACTERS?
This translator uses Roman characters, not Vulcan ones. Sorry! I may be able to implement this in the future.
HOW DO I PRONOUNCE THIS?
For a guide to Vulcan pronunciations I suggest using http://korsaya.org/pronunciation/. I am not a linguist and the thought of implementing pronunciations in this translator is rather daunting. Perhaps I will attempt it in a future update.
VERBS & STRUCTURE
This translator does not always conjugate verbs correctly, and in some cases will also not follow Vulcan sentence structure perfectly. Sorry.
THIS ISN'T 100% ACCURATE!
I know! Translating each word/phrase at a time isn't the best way to translate any language. However, I am not an expert on Vulcan, so I have done my best to build this using the translations given on http://www.starbase-10.de/vld/. Some people have suggested using the Vulcan Language Institute, however the website seems to have been taken down. :( In the future I might poke around korsaya.org and see if I can make some improvements.
I CAN'T TRANSLATE NAMES!
I know. Maybe a future implementation?
Yes, this translator uses American English. Oops.
WHO ON NEW VULCAN ARE YOU, ANYWAY?
Just some Trekkie. :) I started this project in the summer of 2016 and promptly forgot about it. But now I'm back! I'm neither an expert on Vulcan nor a linguist, so any suggestions are appreciated!
