Da der Begriff Ostfälisch für eine große Dialektgruppe innerhalb des niedersächsischen Sprachgebiets steht, für die es weder eine einheitliche Aussprache noch eine einheitliche Schreibweise gibt, beschränke ich mich hier auf das nördliche Kernostfälisch, wie es östlich von Hannover, in einem Dreieck zwischen den Städten Celle, Peine und Burgdorf gesprochen wird bzw. wurde. Since the term Eastphalian stands for a large dialect group within the Lower Saxon linguistic area, for which there is neither a uniform pronunciation nor a uniform spelling, I limit myself here to the northern central Eastphalian, as it is (or was) spoken east of Hanover, in a triangle between the cities of Celle, Peine and Burgdorf. (On the linked dialect map to the east of Hannoversch [in red], named Nordostfälisch.)
Die hier verwendete Schreibweise für das Ostfälische folgt im Wesentlichen der im Hochdeutsch ‒ Plattdeutschen Wörterbuch von Franz Wrede, Jürgen Schierer und Harald Gold (Peine 1995, ISBN 3-926560-32) ist jedoch an die Nysassiske Skryvwyse angenähert. Deren Formen (die für das gesamte Gebiet zwischen Ijsselmmeer und Odermündung gelten sollen) sind nach Möglichkeit den Ostfälischen (zum Vergleich) nachgesetzt.
The notation for Eastphalian used here essentially follows the Hochdeutsch ‒ Plattdeutsches Wörterbuch by Franz Wrede, Jürgen Schierer and Harald Gold (Peine 1995, ISBN 3-926560-32), but is approximated to the Nysassiske Skryvwyse. Their forms (which should apply to the entire area between the Ijsselmmeer and the Oder estuary) follow, if possible, the Eastphalian ones (for comparision).
