This is a one-way transliteration tool to convert strings of Latin script characters into the syllabary used for Anishinaabe (Ojibway), mostly of the eastern sort. This is a work-in-progress.
Early versions had a problem where text would immediately get deleted once entered, even though that didn't happen in the editor. This seems to be resolving itself, or the people behind Lingojam are fixing that - thanks Lingojam!
Known issues:
-The first consonants in clusters with 'w' plus a short vowel don't get transliterated properly - working on it!
Notes:
It does not transliterate r, l, f, th, etc. Final consonants take the -a form.
The letter "u" is treated like a long "oo."
The letter "c" on its own might not show up correctly; try "ch" or 'j" instead.
Punctuation hasn't been entered yet and isn't guaranteed to work.
Some groups of consonants that never appear together in the same word might be transliterated anyway.
I'm a language nerd and don't speak Anishinaabemowin/Ojibway, so if you find any tranliteration errors, please comment. I'll try to improve this as time permits.
